Luigi's Mansion Arcade is an arcade game that was released in June 2015 in Japanese Arcades only. The game was developed by Capcom and published by Sega under license from Nintendo, and is the first time Luigi has had a major role in an arcade game since Mario Bros in 1983.

Plot[]

The game is an adaptation of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, featuring the same locations and ghosts.

It's a two player game. The game is in first-person perspective with a 55-inch (1.397m) LCD screen display. It takes place inside three levels, the Gloomy Manor, the Old Clockworks, and the Treacherous Mansion as the final stage that are all from Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. The ghosts that appear in the game are the Greenie, Slammer, Hider, Gobber, Creeper, Strong Ghosts Forms, Boos, and Polterpups. Polterpups give the player(s) the most points out of any ghost captured in the game. The Arcade Machine itself is a sit down arcade machine and Luigi's Poltergust 5000 is used in replace of a normal joystick, with a combined flashlight within.

The player's main goal of the game is to capture as many ghosts as they can without losing their two or three hearts and rack up as many points as possible in each level of the game as well. There are also tasks within the game for collecting Coins and items for each level, if these tasks are completed the player(s) will receive bonus points at the end of the level. The player(s) can get hurt if they are attacked by Greenies or Slammers, or are hit by objects thrown by Hiders. Luigi is controlled automatically by the game as the Poltergust 5000 is used to capture ghosts.

Trivia[]

  • Luigi's Mansion Arcade was only available in Japanese arcades, but now is available worldwide.
  • This game is very similar to the ScareScraper in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.
  • Professor E. Gadd gives the player instructions on how to use the Poltergust 5000.
  • Luigi's Mansion Arcade is the only game in the series to not feature Toad.
  • The final stage in the Treacherous Mansion includes a big boss fight with King Boo, instead of King Boo transporting Luigi to King Boo's Illusion.
  • This is the first Luigi's Mansion game that does not feature Mario.
    • Due to the lack of Mario's involvement, there is no clear reason why Luigi is doing this. Perhaps to assist Professor E. Gadd with some research.
    • It is revealed at the end of the bad ending that Mario is trapped in a painting and that Luigi forgot to save him.

Differences from Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon[]

  • The Brain appears in the Library in place of the three Poltergeists in the original game.
  • Also, The Brain originally appeared only in ScareScraper mode.
  • The Three Sisters appear in the Old Clockworks instead of the Haunted Towers, due to the latter not being in the game.
  • Some rooms in this game are rearranged or removed to fit this game and its style of gameplay.
  • Normal Greenies have 3 HP instead of 10.
  • Ghosts from the ScareScraper appear in the mansions.
  • Picture on his wall differences compared photo of Luigi and his allies in Dark Moon version.
