Gold Diamonds are the most valuable types of treasures in Luigi's Mansion. It's one of three diamond-type treasures in the game, the others being the Silver Diamond and the Red Diamond. A Gold Diamond is worth 20,000,000G(s), equal to 4,000 gold Coins or red diamonds. There are only two Gold Diamonds in the entire game (totaling 40,000,000G(s) if Luigi gets both of them). If the player is aiming to get an A-rank or an S-rank, it's highly recommended (though not required) that they obtain both of the Gold Diamonds.

The first of them is rewarded by watering the plant in the Boneyard three specific times (where the portrait ghost Spooky resides). The first time is on the first visit to the boneyard. which grows the small pod into a sprout. The second time is after defeating Bogmire, at which point the plant has become a bud that opens up upon being watered. The third and last time is after defeating Boolossus, which opens up the plant, revealing a lot of Money and then Gold Diamond. If Luigi defeats Bogmire before watering it for the first time, or defeats Boolossus before watering it the second time, the plant will wilt, preventing him from getting any of the cash or the Gold Diamond.
The second of them can be obtained after Luigi captures all 50 Boos. The last Boo will drop the diamond right in front of him.
Trivia[]
- Upon close inspection, the Gold Diamonds are larger than the other diamonds, which makes them the largest treasures in the game.
- Though they are the most valuable treasures in the game, in the PAL Hidden Mansion, collecting all thirty Silver Diamonds results in 60,000,000G(s), as opposed to two Gold Diamonds, which is only 40,000,000G(s).
- There is a glitch where, upon the player capturing the 50th Boo, Luigi will collect the Gold Diamond at the same time, causing him to call E. Gadd while holding the diamond. This can be seen here.
- The player is prompted to save after capturing any Boo, including the 50th one with the Gold Diamond. This means, if Luigi loses all of his HP, or if the player exits the game after collecting the second Gold Diamond but before their next save, the game loads after the 50th Boo is captured, but without the diamond in Luigi's inventory or anywhere in the mansion. This causes the diamond to be lost forever. Because of this, it's recommended to not save after capturing the 50th Boo, even if it means having to defeat Van Gore over again.
