The Strobulb is a function of the Poltergust 5000 in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and the Poltergust G-00 in Luigi's Mansion 3 that is essential for defeating ghosts. Unlike the ghosts in Luigi's Mansion, the ghosts of Evershade Valley require a bright flash of light to stun them before they can be captured, which is where Professor Elvin Gadd's new invention comes in.
Obtainment[]
In Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, the Strobulb is, along with the Poltergust 5000, found during the events of the first mission of Gloomy Manor, "Poltergust 5000". It's seen for the first time when two Greenies steal it from the Poltergust 5000 in the Garage. Luigi then will chase them to the Guard Hall, where they keep giving it to each other, and then leave. Finally when Luigi gets to the Foyer, he sees that they have placed the Strobulb atop of the chandelier. He must then lower it by going to the floor above, spinning a wheel-like contraption, and run down and get it before the chandelier raises back up. Once Luigi does have the Strobulb, he equips it on the Poltergust 5000, and accidentally flashes himself in the face when trying it out.
In Luigi's Mansion 3, Luigi simply needs to obtain the Poltergust G-00 from the car to obtain access to the Strobulb.
Functions[]
As an accessory to the Poltergust 5000 and Poltergust G-00, the Strobulb allows for Luigi's flashlight to create a strong blast of light after charging up, by pressing, holding, and releasing "A". This will temporarily stun ghosts and allow Luigi to capture them. Ghosts when stunned will then display their HP and also change their color. The longer Luigi charges the Strobulb, the bigger and stronger the flash of light. When it reaches its maximum charge, it will continuously flicker and reach a medium-high pitch.
